The programme

A whole night out, at home.

Not just a synced player. Every part of the evening was drawn and composed by hand, from the ticket in to the lantern out.

  1. Act IArrival

    Find your seats.

Every invite is a ticket. Pick a seat in a little curved row (it saves the one next to them), and the stub tears off as you walk in.

  2. Act IILights down

    The lights go down.

The room dims around the screen, fireflies write who tonight is for, a drive-in counts you in, and the picture opens like an iris. On the same frame, for everyone.

  3. Act IIIIntermission

    Take a breather.

Call a break and the movie waits, with soft neo-soul playing, until everyone taps “I’m back”. Then a synced 3-2-1, and you’re in.

  4. Act IVThe credits

    Then, a lantern.

The night replays as stories: your biggest moment, who felt it most, every jinx. Each film you finish together adds a lantern to your sky and a ticket to your shelf.

  5. Act VMilestones

    Written in the stars.

Your first night, your fifth, your fiftieth: milestones trace your initials into the sky, one star at a time.

Even the waiting is pretty.

Connecting to themA night train while the peer-to-peer link comes up. On our way.
Catching upWhen a wait drags on, the frozen frame becomes a rainy window and two mugs of tea.

Try them

The little things.

Ways to say something without saying anything, mid-movie.

Hand squeeze

Press H mid-movie: two soft heartbeats glow in from the edges of their screen, in your colour. Phones feel it too.

Jinx!

Send the same reaction as them within a breath, and the two collide and merge in a little burst of hearts.

See where they're looking on the seek bar before anyone jumps, so a rewind is a conversation, not a surprise.

Everything the other sites get wrong, fixed.

We looked closely at Watch2Gether, WatchParty, Teleparty, Syncplay and friends. Here’s what we did differently.

Original quality, up to 4K

No screen-share blur and no re-encoding. Everyone decodes the original bitstream: every frame, every bit of grain.

Frame-tight sync

Clock-synced playback with invisible speed nudges keeps everyone within a few frames. No more “wait, pause, I’m behind.”

Bring a copy, stream yours, or paste a link

Everyone has the file? Zero bandwidth used. Only you have it? Stream it straight to friends, peer to peer. Got a link? Everyone plays it in sync.

Private by design

Video goes directly between browsers. Our servers only relay tiny play/pause messages. No uploads, ever.

Chat & live reactions

Reactions float over the movie, and chat stays with you in fullscreen, without blocking the picture.

Subtitles for everyone

Drop in an .srt or .vtt once and the whole room gets it, with per-person timing offset.

Questions, answered.

Everything you might want to know before your first watch party.

What is CineNest?

CineNest is a free watch party app for your own movies and series. Create a room, share the link, and everyone watches the same video perfectly in sync, in the original quality up to 4K, with chat, live reactions and voice or video calls.

Is CineNest free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it’s free, and there is nothing to sign up for or install. It runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile, with no extension or app needed.

Do my friends need a copy of the movie?

No. If everyone has the file, each person plays their own copy and only play, pause and seek are shared, so no bandwidth is used. If only you have it, CineNest streams your original file straight to your friends, peer to peer. You can also paste a video link and everyone plays it in sync.

Are my movies uploaded anywhere?

Never. Video goes directly between your browsers. Our servers only relay tiny play and pause messages and the chat, so your files stay on your devices.

How many people can watch together?

A room holds up to 24 people. Voice and video calls work for up to 8 people at once, with face bubbles floating over the movie so you can see each other react.

Which video formats and devices are supported?

MP4, WebM and MKV files with H.264, HEVC, VP9 or AV1 video play in original quality. When a phone or browser can’t play a file as-is, like MKV on an iPhone or AC-3 audio on Windows, CineNest converts it live so everyone can still watch.

Can everyone pick their own subtitles and audio language?

Yes. Drop in an .srt or .vtt file once and the whole room gets it, with per-person timing. Each person can also choose their own audio track and the subtitles built into MKV files.
